Riga, 1–2 July 2025 – openDBL project is entering its final six months, with a focus on integration, validation, and real-world deployment.

The 6th openDBL Plenary Meeting, hosted by the project partner EDI (Institute of Electronics and Computer Science) in Riga, Latvia, brought together consortium members for two days of targeted discussions and strategic alignment.

This face-to-face meeting marked a crucial milestone as the project consolidates its progress and defines the final implementation roadmap. The meeting began with updates on project coordination, quality assurance, financial monitoring, and the tracking of innovation impact.

Participants reviewed key deliverables submitted to the European Commission, particularly those related to intellectual property rights (IPR) management and exploitation. Partners provided technical updates from pilot sites in Ruvo di Puglia (Italy), Mislata (Spain), Kifissia (Greece), and dormakaba in Ennepetal (Germany).

These updates highlighted efforts in sensor integration, challenges in data collection, platform scalability, and ongoing validation activities. A comprehensive roadmap was developed to guide the project through its final stages of integration, testing, and refinement.

The consortium also evaluated strategies for dissemination and stakeholder engagement, which included plans for the upcoming release of a white paper on European policy and standardization, as well as contributions to the Horizon Results Booster. Current outreach and communication efforts aim to enhance the project's visibility and encourage adoption within the architecture, engineering, construction, and operations (AECO) sector.

On the second day, discussions shifted to IPR management and the exploitation of results. Partners addressed ownership structures, protection strategies, and the drafting of the Results Transfer Agreement, aligning these efforts with EU grant and consortium agreements.

With significant technical achievements, strong collaboration among partners, and support from all pilot sites, openDBL is well-positioned to deliver a fully integrated digital solution that streamlines building management, enhances data transparency, and achieves measurable impacts in the construction and building lifecycle

sectors.

We are proud to be part of this collaborative effort and excited about the positive impact openDBL will have on the building management industry.
