Kifissia is situated 12 km northeast of the Athens city centre and at the western end of the forested Penteli mountain range. The municipality has an area of 35.100 km2 and a population of 71,259 inhabitants. Kifissia, with its elegance and old-world charm, is one of Athens’ oldest neighbourhoods and has been a summer retreat for wealthy Athenians and philosophers since Roman times due to its cooler temperatures and greenery.
It became the fashion for wealthy Athenian families to build summer houses in Kifissia, and keen social competition led to the creation of a unique architectural ambiance, as villas in ever more exotic styles proliferated. For those unable to afford a summer house, many hotels were built, where the slightly less affluent could spend the holiday months rubbing shoulders with their social betters. Its municipality manages 50 buildings, such as offices, schools and kindergartens, libraries, sport centres and the local cemetery. In Kifissia we will test openDBL on two buildings.
The Town Hall has a surface of ca. 2.000 sqm on two floors. It is used as office space and conference centre. It is equipped with gas boilers and radiators and air conditioning. The available documentation consists of drawings (plans and elevation sections) and technical sheets of the installed equipment.
Michl used to be an iconic residence in Kifissia. After the death of the owner (Mrs. Michael) it has be transferred to the Municipality and transformed in a
kindergarten. It has a surface of 400 sqm, divided into 2 floors, a basement and a courtyard area (a garden of approximately 3,500 acres). It accommodates children from 2 ½ years until they enroll in nursery school. It is equipped with gas boiler & radiators, air conditioning, lighting, fire-extinguishers. The renewal was approved in 2016. The available documentation consists of drawings (plans and elevation sections) and technical sheets of the installed equipment. It has been chosen as a pilot because we want to test how the benefits of openDBL in managing metering system information management, validation of the BIM model validation, building inspections and repairs and improvement of indoor conditions.
